Discover largest Redwoods in Southern Africa ...
Entabeni Hiking Trail

Komatiland Forestry (Safcol) have re-establish hiking trails in the Northern Province and the new Entabeni hiking trail is one of them. The two trails start from new Entabeni Hut, which is comfortable and well equipped and can accommodate 22 people.  An ablution facility with hot showers, flush toilets and hand basins exists whilst the kitchen area has an inside braai facility, kettle, iron pans, table and benches.  Three rooms with beds and thick mattresses and side tables await the weary hiker.

The Phadzima trail is 16km long and stretches north from the hut, taking the hiker through some really stunning indigenous forest similar to those found on the Outeniqua Trail.   The trail leads passed the Ebbe Dam  and then ascends up through beautiful forest.  Once on the summit savour the beautiful views of the Phadzima valley.   The trail continues through forest and grassland and crosses two rivers but take time to enjoy the lovely waterfalls along the way.

An option for the energetic hiker is the Thate-Vondo view to Mathiva Peak loop which adds about 3 hours to the hike but is really worthwhile.

The Redwood Trail is also 16km long but is much easier than the Phadzima View Trail.   It passes some of the largest Redwoods in Southern Africa as well as Vera's Tears waterfall, a beautiful spot to relax from the heat of the day.

An option for the energetic hiker is a 3 hour loop which leaves this trail in a southerly direction and  takes the hiker up to the breathtaking Klein Australia View.
