Welcome to our leaders page, this page will give an insight into our leaders, and how to become a JHC hike leader.

Becoming a Leader

Interested in becoming a leader, the JHC offers various ways tools, and teaching methods that will allow you to become a great leader, and lead many a hikes in the Magaliesberg. The Magaliesberg offers great kloofs and natural pools for leaders to hike to.

Our Leaders

	Alan Chater Hiking since the age of 10, he joined the club in 2002, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Nature & Wild Life, Photography, Pencil sketching, Hiking & 4X4 tracks, Physical Science, Electronics. Alan Chater will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, hikes that have any game to spot are special, or a good kloof to explore being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail being his favourite away hike[s].
	Allan Lill Hiking since the age of 16, he joined the club in 1979, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Reading & Gym. Allan Lill will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Fountain Gully being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Otter Trail being his favourite away hike[s].
	Ed Coogan Hiking since the age of 16, he joined the club in 1986, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Local History. Ed Coogan will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Castle Gorge being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Cedarberg being his favourite away hike[s].
	Peter Roos Hiking since the age of 51, he joined the club in 2000, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Squash, Soccer, Geography, History & Music (Pink Floyd Fan). Peter Roos will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Bartlett's Farm, Bergheim, Kloofing Hikes being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Whale Trail, Reunion, Madeira being his favourite away hike[s].
	Raymond Anderson Hiking since the age of 35, he joined the club in 1992, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Travel, Photography, 4x4, Scuba Diving, Dullstroom, Whisky & beer. Raymond Anderson will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Castle Gorge being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Kaapsehoep being his favourite away hike[s].
	Roger Price Hiking since the age of 17, he joined the club in 2007, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Bridge & Military History. Roger Price will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Foothold being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Mont-aux-Sources being his favourite away hike[s].
	Ryan de Haast Hiking since the age of 12, he joined the club in 2011, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Camping, Programming, Gaming & Movies. Ryan de Haast will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Castle Gorge & Foothold being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Strandloper being his favourite away hike[s].
	Sam Dwyer Hiking since the age of 10, he joined the club in 2009, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In his spare time he enjoys Fishing, Golfing, Cycling & Camping...(All outdoor activites). Sam Dwyer will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on his favourite hikes, Castle Gorge being his favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Rawah Range, Northern Colorado Rockies being his favourite away hike[s].
	Santjie Austin Hiking since the age of 46, she joined the club in 2004, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In her spare time she enjoys Gym & Reading. Santjie Austin will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on her favourite hikes, Foothold, Fountain Gully & Remhoogte...actually all Sunday Hikes being her favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Otter Trail, and the yearly Easter Camp being her favourite away hike[s].
	Tracey May Hiking since the age of 11, she joined the club in 1998, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In her spare time she enjoys Travel, Reading & Scuba Diving. Tracey May will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on her favourite hikes, Fern Kloof being her favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Queen Rose being her favourite away hike[s].
	Wendy Palm Hiking since the age of 16, she joined the club in 2000, and shortly became an aspiring leader for the club. In her spare time she enjoys Trees & Animals (Meercats and Elephants). Wendy Palm will be able to tell you a lot about the various hikes the club has, but more so on her favourite hikes, Fountain Gully being her favourite Sunday Hike[s], and Transkei being her favourite away hike[s].
