Fountain gully hike

Once you get to the top you can hike along the escarpment. Enjoy the great views, and a dip and lunch at a stream.

Tswaing Crater hike

Tswaing-“place of salt”. A meteorite crater with a salt lake. Good birding as well.

Castle Gorge hike

Wind carved stone statues, shady kloofs, cool waterfalls and swimming. What more could you ask for?

Youthful-Queen Rose Barberton –Hutted Trail

Laid out in the mountains West of Barberton. A 2 day trail through spectacular scenery of indigenous forests and plantations. Swim in the pools of the Montrose and Queen’s rivers.

 

 

Thurs 19-Sun 22

Rockeries/Mnweni passes. Wilderness Trail

Drakensberg backpack. An excellent hike for those who love the Drakensberg. Excellent scenery through the passes. Not to be missed. Share tents. Days leave required.

Fri 20-Sun 22

Idwala-Base Hut Trail

Hike through deep valleys and gorges filled with ferns, pools and cascades. On the plateaus over looking Loskop dam are zebra, wildebeest and other game. Excellent accommodation.

Lots of historic interest in this nature reserve and if you are lucky you might spot some animals.

Foothold Monthly camp or day visit

Facilities open to all. Laze, walk, bird watch Socialise or help with maintenance. Sat evening s/c Braai. Own or official hike on Sunday.

Four diversified routes to take you to the top of the escarpment. Once you reach the top there are numerous routes to take. Enjoy a braai afterwards
